Nick Gallimore is the named publisher and product editor responsible for publication decisions. Paint Cost Check does not imply that a page has been reviewed by a painter, estimator, engineer, inspector, or safety professional unless that reviewer is specifically named with a relevant role.
Source hierarchy
Primary public guidance
Government safety rules, economic datasets, and official program documentation are preferred for regulatory, wage, price-level, and hazard claims.
Manufacturer documentation
Product labels, technical data, calculators, and preparation instructions support coverage and application facts. The exact product label takes priority over a general guide.
Transparent model assumptions
When no source directly establishes a useful consumer planning range, Paint Cost Check may publish a clearly labeled assumption with a reproducible formula and limitations.
Affiliate redirects are not used as evidence. A commercial source may support its own product specification, but not a broad claim about every product or contractor.
Worked examples and calculations
A worked example states its dimensions, selected surfaces, openings, coats, coverage, prep, and price assumptions. Arithmetic should be reproducible from the page. Calculator behavior is checked against automated tests for representative geometry, invalid inputs, quote classification, and whole-gallon rounding.
Estimates are ranges because paint condition, access, workmanship, product line, crew, and local business costs cannot be learned from room dimensions alone. A result is never represented as a binding bid.
Drafting tools and automation
Software tools may assist research organization, drafting, calculation checks, testing, or editing. Publication responsibility remains with the named editor. Tool output is not treated as a source, and pages are not described as expert-reviewed unless an expert is actually named.
Dates, updates, and corrections
Guides display publication and last-reviewed dates. Sources are rechecked when a material formula, safety rule, or dataset changes. Style-only edits need not change the reviewed date; changes that affect meaning, examples, or conclusions do.
Correction requests can be sent through the contact page. Include the URL, the disputed text or result, and supporting evidence. Confirmed errors are corrected promptly and the page review date is updated.
Advertising independence
Advertising does not determine calculator results, cost bands, source selection, or editorial conclusions. Ads are labeled and kept outside calculator controls and result interpretation. Paint Cost Check does not sell project details as contractor leads.
